Though there are expensive, classroom-based training courses available for Facility Security Officers (FSOs), there is generally no need to spend time or money on them.

The only training for FSOs that satisfies the requirement of NISPOM section 117.12 sub-section d is the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency’s free, comprehensive curricula for Facility Security Officers (FSOs). FSO training offered by businesses do not satisfy this NISPOM requirement.

There are two separate curricula for FSOs provided by the DCSA. One is for FSOs of facilities that do not store classified information.  The other training curriculum is for FSOs whose facilities store classified information.

Though we provide security training and an array of support services to Facility Security Officers, we suggest that organizations complete the free training specified above first. No FSO training that we or any other business offers can substitute for the DCSA’s FSO curricula mentioned above. If you’ve completed that FSO training curriculum from the DCSA and would like further assistance, you’re welcome to contact us.
